DENTAL ANXIETY LEVELS AMONG CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS BEFORE AND AFTER VIDEO MODELLING HEALTH EDUCATION TECHNIQUE

Abstract


Aim: Aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the anxiety levels of children and their parents at different visits to the Department of
Pedodontics
Methodology: Present study was carried out on 30 children aged 6-14 years and their parents who attended the OPD of Dept. of Pedodontics,
Anxiety assessment was done using Children's Fear Survey Schedule-Dental Subscale (CFSS-DS) for children & Modified Dental Anxiety Scale
(MDAS) for parents.
Results: Anxiety levels of the children was significantly less on the second visit (mean 22.23±5.20)when compared to the first visit(mean
28.13±6.82)(p-value 0.001).There is significant positive correlation between child's age and parent's anxiety(p-value 0.038).There is Nosignificant
correlation between Parent's anxiety and child's anxiety at 1st visit (p-value 0.286).
Conclusion: The study showed that there is gradual decrease in dental anxiety in children in subsequent visits, we found Significant positive
correlation between Child's age and parents's anxiety and No-significant correlation between parental and child's anxiety.
