Biden Promises To Codify Roe V. Wade Abortion Protection Rights If Democrats Win Midterms

If the Democrats take control of Congress, Biden promises to codify Roe's law. On the 50th anniversary of a landmark decision about abortion rights, the president has promised to sign a bill into law if Democrats keep control of Congress in the midterm elections in 2022. Biden made the promise during a DNC gathering at The Howard theater in Washington on Tuesday afternoon. On a podium packed with pro-choice activists and a giant "Restore Roe" banner, the president pledged to put the bill into law on the 50th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, January 22, 2023.

It's a huge boost for the Democrats, who have been operating in a politically hostile climate due to the shaky economy and persistently rising inflation over the last few decades. However, after the Supreme Court's decision to overrule Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson, a considerable number of Democratic voters and women in general have registered to vote in protest.

Abortion Laws In USA

The Women's HealthProtection Act is federal legislation that essentially codifies Roe by protecting women's access to lawful abortion treatment throughout the nation from state restrictions and medically unjustified barriers. The measure has been put to a vote several times in Congress, but has failed twice due to a filibuster in the Senate.
In June, the Supreme Court reversed its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which recognized women's constitutional right to abortion. This decision was widely criticized, including by Vice President Joe Biden. However, many Democrats were hopeful that voter outrage over the decision would motivate people to the polls in November.
Most Republicans are against expanding access to safe and legal abortion, while most Democrats are for it. At now, at least 14 states in the United States have outright prohibited abortion, and numerous more are fighting in the courts to achieve the same goal.
An estimated 26.5 million women of childbearing age reside in states with prohibitions or stringent restrictions, according to the White House. With just a few weeks remaining before the midterm elections, the White House and the Democrats have increasingly centered their campaign pitch on defending abortion, an issue they think would motivate women and independent voters.
The majority of Americans disagree with the Supreme Court's ruling and think abortion should remain legal. Even said, Republican strong areas like economic and inflation concerns are constantly ranked as voters' top concerns in this election. Because of his continued low popularity, Democratic candidates in tight races are suffering.
Patients experiencing miscarriages allege they were either delayed in receiving treatment or refused care altogether, while other patients say they were denied medicine for specific ailments because the pills might also be used to abort a pregnancy.

Biden pledges to codify Roe v Wade if Democrats control Congress

Electoral Strength

In an attempt to empathize with the feelings expressed by many in June, Biden implored the American people to think back to the day the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe was revealed.
I want you to remember that the final say does not rest in the court now. It does not rest with extremist Republicans in Congress... it rests with you.- Biden said
The president also brought up a part of the Supreme Court decision that said women do have political and electoral power. This meant that women could get together and vote for people who would protect their right to have an abortion.
Let me tell you something. The court and the extreme Republicans who spent decades trying to overturn Roe are about to find out.- Biden said
Since the court's judgment, 16 states have enacted abortion prohibitions. To enact abortion-rights legislation, some Democrats have proposed doing away with the Senate filibuster, a legislative hurdle that takes a 60-vote majority to overcome.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday that Biden would back a carveout of the filibuster legislation to codify abortion rights. Biden has indicated before that he would be in favor of such a change.
We urge pro-lifeRepublicans to keep going on the offensive to expose this radical attitude.- Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser said
Vice President Biden and other White House officials announced new policies and funding to protect women's access to abortion and contraception earlier this month.

Final Words

With his approval ratings dwindling due to rising inflation, U.S. President Joe Biden tried to rally his liberal supporters on Tuesday by pledging to sign a measure codifying abortion rights in January if Democrats regain control of Congress in the next election.
In the next midterm elections, the Democrats, led by Vice President Joe Biden, may lose the House of Representatives and maybe the Senate as well. The Supreme Court's decision about four months ago to overturn the historic Roe v. Wade ruling severely limited abortion rights, and the president is trying to bring the party and its supporters together on this issue.
