The event took place at Engels, a western port city located on the Volga River, approximately 500 miles (more than 800 kilometers) southeast of Moscow. This is the second time in this month that an attack of this kind has been attempted against the city, which is home to the Engels-2 military airfield, which is a strategic bomber airbase.
According to Roman Busargin, Governor of Saratov Oblast, on Monday, law enforcement officials are now examining the event that occurred at the airfield. The remarks, which were published on his official Telegram channel, were made as stories began to emerge regarding an explosion in the city.

Earlier in this month, footage obtained from a CCTV camera in Engels appeared to show an explosion that lit up the night sky.
