Tory Lanez Early Life

Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, better known as Tory Lanez, was born on July 27, 1992, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Sonstar, his Bajan father, and Luella, his Curaçao-born mother, both died tragically from uncommon diseases when Tory was 11 years old.
Lanez's said about his mother's passing: At the time I was being very bad because I didn't know how to express myself. Music gave me an outlet to express myself and channel that anger.- Tory Lanez
When Lanez was 4 or 5 years old, the family first traveled to Montreal; later, they made their way to Miami, Florida. The family relocated around the country as a result of Sonstar's work as a missionary and ordained minister after Luella's passing.
Sonstar relocated the family to Atlanta, Georgia, after getting remarried. Tory's friend Hakeem there gave him the moniker "Lanez" because he "loved seeking thrills and running through the streets."
Due to behavioral problems, Tory moved in with a relative in Queens, New York, in 2006. After that, he stayed with his grandmother in Toronto, but she didn't want to look after him.
Lanez said: I ended up moving downtown with these three dudes that I didn't really know… From like 15-18, I was just fighting them. I fought like every day and these were like older dudes. It was every man for himself. That's what made me a man, having to fend for myself and being in a situation where there is no dad, no grandma and no mom to help you.- Tory Lanez
After his mother passed away, he started rapping and gave himself the moniker "Notorious" in tribute to Notorious B.I.G. After dropping out of school at age 16, he adopted the stage name "Tory Lanez" and started appearing at outdoor events.

In October 2020, Lanez was charged with three felonies, including assault with a semiautomatic weapon, and a protective order was granted against him, preventing him from speaking to Megan or approaching her closer than 100 feet.
Tory broke the protective order in August 2021, and his bail was raised from $190,000 to $250,000 as a result. Drake, Jacquees, and Joyner Lucas are just a few rappers with whom Lanez has had disagreements. After ending their brief rivalry, Tory and Jacquees embarked on a joint tour.
